 FAQ

I hate getting my photo taken

Me too! I’m much more comfortable behind the camera. I feel like I look so unnatural when I stand there and smile at the camera.

Thats why I focus my photography on capturing you doing what you love. Whether that is playing guitar, mountain biking, dancing, cooking, or just eating a burrito (we all have our passions…)

What if the weather sucks?

The weather almost always sucks in the bay area. It’s just how it is on a peninsula in sticking out into the pacific ocean. I have shot in some outright crappy weather, but I have rarely come home with bad photos.

Part of a photographer’s job is to find the light and composition even in bad conditions. In fact, I’ve found some of my best shots come when the weather pushes me to be more creative.

If the weather for our planned day is absolutely horrible, we can absolutely reschedule or choose a different location, but I would encourage you to embrace what mother nature tosses our way and see what happens! Worst case, the pictures suck and I’ll give you a refund :)

What if I don’t want my photo edited?

I get it, no one wants to post that hyper edited, instagram filter look. Photos should be timeless and not rely on a short internet fad. You want to look back on these photos for decades to come and not cringe at the trends of the past.

Unfortunately, editing is a necessity in professional photography. The raw image data a camera sees is nothing like what you see, and editing is the process of turning that raw data into something pleasing to our eyes. Even your smartphone puts a secret edit on your photos!

The goal of a good edit is to make it look like the photo was never edited in the first place. If you can tell there is an edit on the photo, then I didn’t do my job.

I absolutely do not just toss a generic filter on the entire album! Every single photo I offer you is carefully edited and calibrated to ensure natural skin tones and proper exposures.

Additionally, I do my best to work with you to make sure the editing is in a style you like. If you don’t like the editing, I will gladly re-edit them in a different style until you like what you see!

What is your refund policy?

I do my best to make sure a shoot goes off without a hitch, but sometimes life happens and you can’t make it to the shoot, or the weather just isn’t cooperating, or we didn’t work well together, or the photos aren’t what you expected at the end.

I am a reasonable and understanding person! If there is a genuine reason you can’t make the shoot or are unsatisfied at the end, I’ll work with you to make it right.

Some high level points:

  • Cancel within 48 hours for a full refund, no questions asked.

  • 50% refund if cancel within 24 hours, no refund if no-show.

  • Reschedule if weather is bad (though I encourage you to give it a shot if you can! you might be surprised!)

  • 50% refund or free reshoot if photos or editing aren’t to your taste.

What camera and lens do you use?

I am a firm believer that photography is more about the person behind the camera and the gear itself, and for that reason, I don’t pack a lot of gear!

That being said, I shot with a Nikon Z6ii full frame, 24.5 megapixel mirrorless camera. My favorite lens is the 50mm, f1.8 prime lens for portraits and a 24-200mm f4-f6.3 lens.

I also have my iphone 12 pro max, osmo pocket, and mavic pro drone for video work.

Do I get a say in what photos you edit?

Absolutely! I can involve you in the process as much as you would like. I can send you a large gallery of photos that have been initially combed to remove the obvious bad shots and you can comment on the me and let me know which ones you’d like edited.

After I do a rough edit on them, you can then choose your favorites (up to the agreed upon amount) and then they are all yours!

Of course, we can always add more photos onto your package!
